A strong favourite of mine, Alice McCall's MBFWA shows are always quite the production. This year's dramatic runway was set amidst a dreamy candyland with models dancing down artist Daimon Downey's sculptural garden installation in McCall's signature playful and flirtatious designs. Fittingly entitled One Track Love, her Cruise 2015 / 2016 collection was a mix of romantic rhythm and sophisticated soulful style - where fashion, music and art meet. Merging 90s minimalism with Alice's pop femininity we saw chic tailoring, sculptural silhouettes, free-flowing lace, metallic brocades and contemporary crochet all take prime position on the runway. Quite the contrast to last season's soft pastel palette, this year consisted of primarily monochomre colours with injections of shimmering fabric, bright red, copper and royal blue. A modern take on 70s retrospective, the feminine Alice girl was toughened up by an edgier rock n roll vibe - the perfect combination.
