Julien Fournié's Tropical Take On Haute Couture

Julien Fournié took us to a tropical paradise, filled with vibrant flowers and cascading silks it was a show to remember. Held in one of my favourite fashion week venues, the L'Oratoire du Louvre just added to the drama and majestic atmosphere of this stand-out collection. Bringing to us a more accessible couture, it was refreshing to see jumpsuits, playsuits and even denim walk the runway. This did not at all take away from his stunning evening gowns but complemented them bringing out a playful side that paralleled his 'First Paradise' inspiration. Modeled after the silver-screen starlets of the 1970s Jacklyn Smith and Jacqueline Bisset, Fournié's shapes and silhouettes were in themselves birds of paradise. Transporting us to crashing waves and sandy shores through his pieces, Julien Fournié wanted to take us sailing on the waters of a fictional ocean approaching a fashion Eden, full of mystery and voluptuousness. Available on the day after the show, the collection creates a privileged relationship between luxury ready-to-wear and couture, a link between models and customers, a bridge between runway and retail.
