MBFWA 2015 Runway Report: Watson X Watson and Macgraw

It was such a pleasure to see one of my all time designer favourites Watson X Watson back on the MBFWA schedule. Making a bang this year with a high-shine aluminium runway and mirrored lit backdrop, their Nightwalker collection was a lust-worthy mix of daytime disco fever and nighttime casual glamour. Breaking the boundaries for what's appropriate dress for day or night and bringing back denim is an oh-so-good way this SS15, I absolutely fell in love with the unique patchwork masterpieces that filled the show. Known for their easy-to-wear designs, laid back chic and wardrobe staples, Watson X Watson delivered just that yet again - congratulations ladies!

Macgraw's a hidden gem in the Australian designer landscape, always creating strong yet wearable collections that have that little something special. Designer sisters Tessa and Beth took inspiration for this collection from a modern day shepherd girl. As the designs hit the bright pink carpeted runway we saw a mixture of texture and signature prints alongside high necks and feature pockets all stamped with the sisters unique personality. This year was Macgraw's first foray into shoe design with the models all wearing cute glitter flats that almost stole the show, reminding us there's no place like home and leaving us all wanting to be sparkling chic Dorothy's!

In a first for cult favourite Bec & Bridge, MBFWA debuted a brand new swimwear line for this dynamic duo. Keeping in theme, the models literally walked on water as they strutted down a glistening wet runway. The new collection took us on a sensual journey through the seductive desert landscape of Morocco. The colour palette was perfect - jewel tones and subtle starry elements alluded to hot desert nights whilst dusky tones reminded us of shifting sands and exotic lands. Plus flowing lines, metallic accents and alluring cutouts added a trendy 70s feel. Bec & Bridge's new swim and ready-to-wear lines went hand in hand - a designer duo we can count on.
