NYFW's Fall 2014 Runway Report: Karen Walker, Mathieu Mirano and Angel Sanchez

Always a highlight of the season, Karen Walker's highly anticipated Fall / Winter 2014 collection did not disappoint. Inspired by the suffragettes, the runway was alight with practical and modern pieces that strayed away from traditional prettiness while staying true to Karen's must-have charming style and feminine silhouettes. Following her notion of the revolutionary woman Karen's colour palette and fabrications are utilitarian and contrastingly ladylike, exploring military pants, full skirts, tunics, working coats, ruffles, delicate embroidery, brushed cottons and suede.

Mathieu Mirano shows us his luxurious vs rebellious streak with his new New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 collection that entails a juxtaposition of soft femininity and hard structure. Just 22 years old, Mathieu has already accumulated quite the celebrity following with Nicole Richie, Lady Gaga, Elizabeth Banks and Kat Graham all donning his fabulous designs on the red carpet. A mix of fur, sequins and leather his runway was spot on-trend this season providing classic and edgy looks that truly dazzle.

A Fall 2014 collection titled Dark Innocence, Angel Sanchez's MBFW runway was one to remember. Carefully detailed and exquisite in technique, his collection was inspired by the woman who is edgy and mysterious yet dresses conservative and demure with monastic elegance. Floating panels, contrasting sheer cutouts, luxurious folds, rich materials, laser-cut leathers and shimmering metallics alluringly drew us into his design story. With an innate sense of architeture and celebrities like Taylor Swift, Eva Longoria and Sandra Bullock already on-board - Sanchez is clearly a designer to watch!
