NYFW's Fall 2014 Runway Report: David Tlale, Vivienne Tam and Katya Zol

David Tlale's attention to detail is superb, I was left trying to catch my breath after his New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 runway. Moving from presentations to the runway, his ready to wear collection was elaborate in detail with everything from pleating to folds and appliqué to draping adding the perfect element to his sophisticated designs. Each piece incorporating a little something extra, it was classic and ladylike elegance for the woman who loves fashion everyday. Adding statement pieces to your wardrobe from day to night, it was one of those runways where you wanted it all!

Vivienne Tam's runway was rich in print and luxurious in texture, utilising contrasting and mix matched layers with a complementing colour palette it was a visually stunning Fall 2014 collection. Tam pays homage to the hidden treasures of Dunhuang, the ancient frescoes are translated into truly timeless digital prints and the earthy ancient tones echo their heritage. With a romantic 70s feel, sheer lace textures, luxe embellishments, culottes, lavish broacades, boiled wool, and soft flowing silhouettes vs structured pieces reflect the freedom of experiencing Dunhuang culture.

Katya Zol's Fall 2014 runway reflected her Mongolian roots, a clear tribal influence ran through the wintery pieces showcasing her heritage with modern fluidity. A true extravaganza, the show opened with an elaborate tribal singer and an impressive and stylishly dressed acrobat - what a start! Contrasting textures and layers that remind you of the sherpas in the Himalayan mountains, a fascinating culture that has Katya's collection transcending time and style.
