Bec & Bridge's Bringing Back The Akubra

Since its debut on the RAFW Bec & Bridge runway this May, fashion talk has been swirling around the revival of an Aussie classic the Akubra. In a special collaboration between Bec & Bridge and the timeless Aussie brand Akubra, the Bianca Adventurer fedora made its appearance. Designers Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston stated:

“Collaborating with Akubra seemed like such a natural fit when we came up with the idea of a 1970’s-style fedora for summer...We were inspired by Bianca Jagger and Lauren Hutton in the late 1970’s, they epitomise sensuality, success and a non-chalant sex-appeal that is key to our brand."

It fitted perfectly with the 70s summer feel of their Spring Summer 2011 collection, however is it something that can translate into everyday wear? I think the answer is yes. With the 5 new hot colours that this hat comes in, I think it could become yet again a fashion staple in the Aussie wardrobe this coming summer.
