Zimmermann's Colonial Inspiration For NYFW Spring 2016

Spring 2016 marks a provocative turn for Zimmermann with inspiration being drawn from Ethel Turner's iconic novel Seven Little Australians. A colonial feel sweeps through this New York Fashion Week runway, contrasting conservative details with playful flirtation. Fittingly titled Master and Mischief, sheer lace blouses give hint to sexy black undergarments while shoulders are exposed through moulded corset like lacing. Pretty florals and delicate rose bud motifs are embellished with militaristic precision while traditional stripes provide structure against feminine frills and lace applique. Nicky Zimmermann perfectly captured the collection's feel stating: "For spring I wanted to work with the sorts of fabric I've always been drawn to - linen, cotton organdy, raw silks, embroidery, lace and various natural textures but present them in a sharper more modern context. The collection is a mix of the conservative and the disobedient."
