Fiji Fashion Week has begun, in its 8th year this annual event is the highlight of the fashion industry for the Pacific Islands. Being surrounded by stunning scenery and bodies of water, it lends itself to a strong designer repertoire for resortwear built up over the years. Literally taking place in paradise, this peaceful country's laid back, colourful and sophisticated sense of style speaks to anyone whose ever had cocktails by the beach, dreamt of a tropical escape or had a relaxing brunch in the city. Attracting not just local designers from Fiji but also international talent from Tahiti, Australia, LA and Hawaii. It's no surprise these stunning collections meet your every need from day to night, beach to bar. A stand out was Australian designer Marika Deku's trendy and modern designs with eye-catching separates and a watercolour influence. Not to mention established LA designer Dena Burton's fresh and striking silhouettes which found the balance between resortwear and corporate elegance. Afa Ahloo was another highlight of the night, his take on traditional Pacific prints were worthy of an international stage all the time celebrating his cultural heritage. All in all, it was an amazing opening night that left us hungry for what's to come in the following days - stay tuned for more from Fiji Fashion Week tomorrow!
