Fiji Fashion Week Closes To A Packed House

Well Fiji Fashion Week certainly saved the best group of designers till last, KuiVita by Epeli Tuibeqa stole the show with his dramatic designs and talented use of tapa and masi prints. His bridal collection featured a show-stopping Fijian design to rival Rihanna's Met Gala yellow cape! Hani Haring's delicate use of hand-crafted lace from France and mother-of-pearl detailing create the perfect mix of Parisian style with island flair. Hani, half of this dynamic designer duo, studied under Jean Charles de Castelbajac in Paris before launching her own collection with partner Benji. Hailing from Tahiti, these couture designs are almost ethereal to match both a tropical climate and their elegant genre. Anton Conway Wye was the most innovative take on Fijian print I've seen yet, this emerging designer's use of sheer fabric and creative cutouts are daring for the islands but work in his favour. Stepping out from the crowd, this young designer will go far. Last but certainly not least, LA designer Dena Burton closed the show with a collection worth waiting for, a tribute to old Hollywood glamour this all-black collection transported us through time. All in all, what a finale to Fiji Fashion Week where surrounded by tropical bliss it truly was fashion in paradise!
