J. Mendel's Architectural NYFW Spring 2015 Runway
“For J. Mendel’s Spring 15 collection, I have collaborated with the artist, Enoc Perez. The result is a collection that is sleek and defined, with very architectural lines, offset by the luxuriousness of the fabrications and a play of texture and color.” – Gilles Mendel
The much anticipated Spring 2015 J Mendel show had us all on the edge of our seats as we waited for it to begin. For this show Gilles Mendel's collaboration with artist Enoc Perez sparked an awe-inspiring collection that left us enthralled as each model walked down the runway. The architectural lines of buildings were paralleled in his diagonal and structured designs. While the collection had an edgy feel about it, it stayed true to Mendel's signature feminine and beautiful feel that empowers women and the way they dress. The designs showed a structured mixture of prints and bold colour with a difference in texture and fabric, from organza to fur to leather. Each piece while blended as a collection stood out on its own, clean silhouettes and a dynamite colour palette transformed the gowns into defining works of art.
