Interview // Rachael Finch Headlines Target's MBFFS Runway

Target is just growing from strength to strength, between their must-have collaborations and launching their new petites range by Dannii Minogue it's becoming quite the fashion pit-stop. Having worked quite a bit recently with this retail powerhouse, it was a pleasure to sit down for a quick interview with Aussie favourite Rachael Finch as she prepared to walk the runway for Target's huge MBFFS show.

What do you think of the Runway to Rack collection?

I think it's absolutely beautiful, I'm really excited to be wearing it and walking for Target at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival. It's gorgeous, they have a good selection and variety of pieces. The whole runway to rack element is incredibly intelligent, they've literally taken trends from international runways and put it in in-store weeks later. It's a really good concept and I think for the customer it gives them great quality products at really affordable prices. Having already worn and tried a lot of them on, I can see first-hand how well they're made and that they're such good pieces.

What's your favourite piece?

Well I'm opening the show in a white outfit that's a tailored top and a tailored pair of shorts. White on white with an ash grey blazer over the top so that I really like. I think it screams Spring/Summer to me and it's simple. It's not overdone, the fabrics really light and flowing but its still sophisticated and classy.

What's it like walking the runway for such a global store?

I feel very honoured and the exciting part is for tonight they'll be kids walking in the show as well, so it's a whole family affair and it's a real privilege. I think a lot of us grew up with Target so to now be on the runway for them launching a great new collection that has come such a long way is amazing - I think someone said the other day Target has really grown up and matured but its still that one stop shop.

What's your favourite or must-have trend for the summer?

I would say a light blazer for summer evenings, you'll see a lot of different designers doing great blazer options and Target has got quite a lot on offer in that department. Just over the top of a dress or shorts, I think a blazer is a must.

Do you think your style has changed since becoming a mum?

Absolutely. I wear a lot more black to cover the stains and I've always been a fan of a simplistic way of dressing, not being to crazy with colours or too mismatchy. I just love simplicity, block colours, things that fit me well and I think that's really extended when you have a baby.
