NYFW Spring 2015 Runway Report: Karen Walker, Dion Lee and Stella Nolasco

Karen Walker's modern street label is always a much anticipated show at New York Fashion Week. Her Spring 2015 collection titled "Garden People" takes us down the garden path in the posh English countryside. A combination of function and formality alongside pattern and utility drove the designs, whereby hard-working fabrics like denim and suede are contrasted against earthly botanicals and colourful florals. The scarves and hats were a hit, a new collection that has wearable elements for any fan and is well worthy of our attentions.

Aussie favourite Dion Lee showcased his Spring / Summer 2015 collection at New York Fashion Week in a stylish gallery in the downtown fashion district of NYC. Inspired by the industrial landscape and urban artist Jeffery Smart it painted a clear picture of where Dion's consistently talented construction hailed from. His signature cobalt blue, black and white colours were mixed with reflective silver details, moto embellishments plus pops of bright yellow and tangerine which all drew parallels to his strong theme. A well thought out and put together collection that did not fail to disappoint Dion's loyal following of fashionistas.

Stella Nolasco's Spring 2015 New York Fashion Week runway was in one word beautiful. Pretty lace and delicate sequins were embodied in rich textures silks and bright colours. It was an overtly feminine collection featuring sleek silhouettes, two-piece sets, opaque lace contouring and full skirts. Inspired by Nolasco's own culture in Puerto Rico, this romanticised version showcased vivid Carribbean colours and shimmering metallic embellishments via hand carved saints and figurines. With a collection to remember and Whoopi Goldberg sitting front row, her debut to MBFW was a huge success!
